Popular music executive and CEO of Kennis Music, Kenny Ogungbe, has denied being responsible for Plantashun Boiz’s split.
He made this known in a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, saying the group had already broken up before 2Face approached him.
Ogungbe was reacting to rumours that the musical group broke up after Kennis Music signed their star singer, 2Face.
Plantashun Boiz, a group comprising 2Face, Blackface and Faze, split in 2004 after the release of their sophomore album ‘Sold Out’.
In 2007, the group reunited for a third and final album ‘Plan B’, before splitting again.
Speaking on the development during the interview, he said, “People have been saying l’m the one responsible for the breakup of Plantashun Boiz.
“That’s not true. 2face came to me himself after the group had broken up that he wanted to sign with Kennis music and Eedris Abdulkareem told me to sign him which I did.”

The ace music executive went on to say that his record label also made efforts to prevent 2Face from womanising while he was signed to his label.
According to him, women were seeking the young 2Face’s attention but the label denied him access to them.
He, however, added that after the singer exited Kennis Music, the label couldn’t do much to prevent him from womanising.
Ogungbe added, “When 2face was with us [at Kennis Music], we prevented him from seeing girls. Girls come to look for him all the time but we didn’t allow him see any of them but when he left our record label, there was nothing we could do about the situation anymore.
“Even when he was becoming the butt of the jokes of some comedian [for being a womaniser], I didn’t call him to question him because he’s a matured man. Every man has his cross.”
