Kefee Don Momoh’s UK publicist, Adeline Adebayo, has said that the gospel artiste did not die from pregnancy-related complications, as it was widely rumoured.
A statement from Adebayo said it was rather lung failure that caused the artiste’s death.

The Branama exponent died on Friday morning in an American hospital where she was admitted after slipping into coma 15 days ago.
“On behalf of the family, it is with a great sadness but grateful heart that we announce the passing to glory, due to lung failure, this morning of our God’s mouthpiece, chorus leader, daughter, wife, sister and friend, Kefee Branama Queen,” the statement read in part.
While praying for her beautiful soul to rest in peace, the publicist explained that “in contrast to all earlier rumours and stories in circulation, I do state that Kefee wasn’t six months pregnant and neither did she have pre-eclampsia”.
Radio presenter, Steve Onu (a.ka. Yaw), a close friend of her husband, Teddy Don Momoh, had on Friday morning confirmed the news on Wazobia FM saying: “One of our very own is dead. May her soul rest in peace.”
Kefee, whose music career started at age eight in her church choir, was famous for her gospel songs ‘Branama’ and ‘Kokoroko’. She won several awards including the best collaboration in Headies 2010.
Until her death, she resided happily with her husband in the United States of America (U.S.) and managed her restaurant, Branama Kitchen, in Lagos.
Kefee is said to have completed work on her album and was returning to her base in the U.S. when she went into a coma inflight.
The award-winning songstress and the CEO of Branama Afrique (an entertainment outfit known for excellent production), Kefee was honoured with the United Nations Young Ambassador for Peace award.
She was born to Deacon and Mrs. Andrew Obaseki of Sapele, Delta State. who are still alive.
