Nollywood actress and fitness enthusiast, Kate Henshaw has urged the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration to scrap the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme because of the level of insecurity in the country.

The veteran thespian’s advice comes after eight NYSC members were kidnapped along a highway in Zamfara State.

Reacting after the development via her Twitter handle on Wednesday, Henshaw said since the security of Corps members can no longer be guaranteed by the federal government, the scheme should be scrapped.

The 56-year-old actress went down memory lane, speaking about how enjoyable the scheme was when she served her fatherland several years ago.

She, however, added that embarking on such adventure is quite risky these days and urged the government to “stop putting the lives of young people at risk with moribund ideas.”

Taking to her social media page, Kate Henshaw wrote: “When I served in the North, it was a very memorable experience. Travelling from Bauchi by road to the airport was safe & then flying to Lagos just with my NYSC ID card, which also got me a rebate on my ticket.

“It’s time to scrap this idea since corpers can’t travel within this country without let or hindrance!

“Stop putting the lives of young people at risk with moribund ideas. Security is a priority & needs to be sorted totally, not technically.”
