Controversial Islamic Sheikh, Abduljabbar Nasir Kabara, who sits on the fringe of Islamic theology, will have an epic debate with mainstream Muslim scholars on July 10.
The debate is being organized by the Kano state government that once banned the Sheikh from preaching in the state and even closed his mosque.
Sheikh Abduljabar had argued that his teachings were more Islamic and should have been given an opportunity to debate mainstream scholars to prove his case.
A report by the Daily Trust says the state’s commissioner for religion affairs, Muhammad Tahar Adamu, announced during an interview on BBC Hausa Service on Thursday, July 8, that he has dispatched invitation letters to the scholars who would take part in the debate.
According to the Daily Trust, Abduljabbar has been accused of making derogatory remarks against Islam most revered prophet, especially his companions as well.
