Popular Kannywood actress, Saratu Gidado, better known as Daso, has passed on.
Her death was confirmed by a local radio station in Kano State, which reported that the veteran thespian died in her sleep.
Recounting how she died, her family members said she failed to wake up on Tuesday morning after the midnight meal before the commencement of the day’s Ramadan fast, ‘Sahur:
Daso joined the Hausa film industry over 18 years ago following an illustrious career as a school teacher.
Her remarkable performances and versatile roles in Kannywood later endeared her to audiences across the Northern region.
However, her sudden demise has left many fans and colleagues mourning the loss of a beloved talent.
Meanwhile, while preparations are underway for her funeral, tributes have continued to pour in from all corners of the entertainment world.
Daso’s death comes a day after Nigerian filmmaker, Seun Oloketuyi announced the death of another Nollywood actress, Adejumoke Aderounmu on his verified Instagram page.
Aderounmu, who became a household name in the movie industry after playing the role of ‘Esther’ in popular TV series ‘Jennifer’s Dairy died on April 6 at the age of 37.
