Harry Kane played a pivotal role in Bayern Munich’s 3-2 comeback victory against Wolfsburg on Sunday, marking a successful start for new manager Vincent Kompany in his Bundesliga debut.
Bayern initially took the lead with a goal from Jamal Musiala in the 19th minute, but Wolfsburg turned the game around early in the second half. Lovro Majer scored twice within ten minutes, putting Wolfsburg ahead and leaving Bayern on the back foot.
Despite the setback, Bayern found their way back into the match, largely thanks to Kane’s contributions. In the 65th minute, the England captain’s header forced an own goal from Wolfsburg’s Jakub Kaminski, leveling the score. Kane continued to influence the game by assisting Serge Gnabry’s decisive 82nd-minute strike, securing the win for Bayern.

After the match, Kane acknowledged the team’s imperfections but expressed optimism about their progress. “It’s not perfect yet,” he told Bayern TV, noting that they “got punished a little” in the second half. He emphasized the importance of using the upcoming week to refine the team’s understanding of Kompany’s strategies.
Bayern midfielder Joshua Kimmich echoed Kane’s thoughts in an interview with DAZN, attributing their temporary loss of control to “many mistakes” but praised the team’s response after falling behind.
The match also saw Kane involved in the build-up to Bayern’s opening goal. He found Sacha Boey on the right flank, who skillfully dribbled past two Wolfsburg defenders before setting up Musiala for a simple finish. Musiala’s goal marked his sixth in eight games against Wolfsburg, making them his most successful opponent to date.
The win positions Bayern Munich well as they continue to adapt to Kompany’s leadership, with Kane proving instrumental in their early success.
