Enyimba head coach Imama Amapakabo has described as a “big boost” the signing of former international Sani Kaita for their current Nigeria Premier League campaign.

The 28-year old teamed up with the Aba Elephants after agreeing a season-long loan deal for the rest of the ongoing season and made his debut against Sharks on May 7 in Port Harcourt.

Kaita, who has also played professionally in countries like the Netherlands, France, Russia, Ukraine and Greece, earned 24 caps for Nigeria at senior level between 2005 and 2010.

The boss of the six-time Nigeria Professional Football League title winners went philosophical while extolling the simplicity of the former Monaco defensive midfielder.

On how Kaita has adapted to life at Enyimba, the former Sharks coach said the fitness of the 2008 Beijing Olympic silver medallist is very encouraging and has shown great leadership quality as well as enhanced communication within the team.

“He is doing great with us. Life’s education is endless. Humility is key in life and he who seeks knowledge must be humble. He is just an embodiment of humbleness,” Amapakabo told Goal.

“He’s coming up fitness wise. He played 45 minutes in his first game against Sharks and played about 60 minutes against Bayelsa [United] in his second. So let’s see how it goes from here in games to come.

“We needed a leader on the pitch and I think that’s one big plus he has. He communicates very well on the field of play a quality that is rare with Nigerian players, most of them just play their game and don’t communicate.

“You can’t rule out his presence around the team. He’s somebody they’ve all seen on the highest stage of football – a place they all dream about so his addition to our team is real good,” he concluded.
