Applicants jostling to replace sacked Kaduna teachers paid between N3,000 and N6,000 each to be eligible for recruitment, multiple sources have told TheNiche.

The applicants confirmed they paid into a Zenith Bank account with the account name “Teachers Registration Council”.

Those with National Certificate of Education (NCE) paid N3,000 and holders of bachelor of education degree paid N6,000.

Governor Nasir El-rufai had announced that 48,806 job seekers applied at the close of application.

This means the exercise generated at least N200 million into state coffers.

The Kaduna State government had conducted competence test for its 33,000 primary school teachers, all of whom are holders of at least National Certificate of Examination (NCE).

The government sacked 21,780 of them or 66 per cent who failed the primary four class test and advertised their jobs.

El-rufai’s Chief Press Secretary, Samuel Aruwan, did not answer three telephone calls or respond to a text message seeking comment on the money generated from applicants.
