The Kaduna State Government on Wednesday said that it would spend N195 million for the provision of infrastructure at the Kaduna Inland Container Depot.
Mr Joshua Shekarau, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, announced this at the signing of agreement with Global Farm Construction Nigeria Limited for the construction of the infrastructure.
He listed the infrastructure to be provided to include access roads, water and drainage at the site.
According to him, the construction works is expected to be completely within six months.
He said that the container depot was being constructed to enhance business activities in the state and generate employment.
The commissioner assured that the state was now secure and that government had taken further steps to enhance economic activities.
Also, the Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Samaila Aliyu, said that the government would engage major economic players in the state to raise awareness on the importance of the port.
Aliyu said that this was necessary to ensure sustainable patronage of the port to promote economic activities in the state.
The Chairman of Global Farm Construction Nigeria limited, Mr Kabir Sani, thanked the state government for the confidence reposed in the firm and pledged to execute the project on time.
