Arsenal midfielder, Jorginho has said he and his teammates cannot afford to be complacent when they face Serie A club, Atalanta in a Champions League game on Thursday.

The Italian made this known during the pre-match press interview of the encounter, where he also urged them to learn from last season.

Arsenal reached the UEFA Champions League (UCL) quarterfinals last season under their manager Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners lost 3-2 on aggregate against Bayern Munich.

Speaking ahead of the UCL game, Jorginho acknowledged that there is still a long way to go in the competition.

He, however, added that Arteta’s men will  have to be focused and ready because Atalanta will be tough to beat.

He said: “It’s different and it’s something that we need to learn. We need to learn the competition a bit more. We are getting better every day. This [Atalanta vs Arsenal] will be the first game of this season in the Champions League.

“We have been working a lot and trying to improve every day. We need to take the lessons we got last season. We will see this season because it is the first game—there is still a long way to go. We need to be ready for tomorrow, as it will be a really tough game to start.‌”
