The release was to commiserate with the Kenyan government and people over the gruesome terrorist attack on the Garissa University College in Kenya which killed no fewer than 140 persons.

The terrorist group, Al-Shabab, which operated from Somalia, was said to have carried out the attack.

In the release Jonathan extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Kenya and to the families of those who died in the attack which occurred on Thursday.

“President Jonathan utterly condemns the deliberate targeting of innocent persons, schools and other soft targets by terrorists, as such atrocious, despicable and barbaric acts of violence ought to have no place in any civilised society.

“The President assures President Uhuru Kenyatta and the brotherly people of Kenya that Nigeria stands in full solidarity with them,’’ the release said.

It recalled that the people of Kenya had come to grips once again with the aftermath of another heinous terrorist attack on their country.
