Manchester United’s Dutch gaffer, Erik ten Hag and the club’s co-chairman Joel Glazer seem to be on a different page on the future of Portuguese soccer star, Cristiano Ronaldo at the club.

According to Manchester Evening News, while Ten Hag does not mind letting Ronaldo leave Old Trafford before the summer transfer window closes on Thursday, September 1, Joel Glazer has a contrary opinion, he wants to keep hold of the striker this season.

Ronaldo is still keen on a move away from the red half of Manchester even as the summer transfer window approaches its end.

The former Juventus and Real Madrid star wants Champions League action, a competition Man United cannot offer him this season, because their sixth position finish in the Premier League last season means they will play in the Europa League.

The report added that Italian Serie A side Napoli are interested in signing the 37-year-old.

Luciano Spalletti’s side are one of the biggest clubs in Italy and will participate in the Champions League this season, making the club appealing to Ronaldo.

However, his future hangs in the balance as the transfer clock ticks, given the fact that there are different opinions at the club regarding his exit.

Ten Hag is fine with Ronaldo leaving the club so that he can effectively shape his team in line with his football philosophy.

The former Ajax coach has played Ronaldo from the bench in three of their last four Premier League games this season.

The striker seems to have fallen behind the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Anthony Martial in the pecking order this season.

On the other hand, the club owner, Joel Glazer, wants Ronaldo at the club for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.

This is because the forward remains an asset for Manchester United due to his marketability and other commercial value.
