Pantami: Nigerians call out Joe Abah for sitting on the fence

Joe Abah

Former director-general of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), Dr Joe Abah, has become the butt of social media jokes for consistently sitting on the fence on ‘critical issues.’

His critics said since the alleged terrorist-ties of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy came to the public space, he has maintained an unacceptable silence.

This prompted one of his twitter followers, @christka7 to ask Abah his view on the Isa Pantami issue.

Abah responded in a way that did not surprise his critics. He said: “My view is that a number of the things the Minister said in the past were misguided and wrong and that he should have publicly renounced those views, apologised for them and actively campaigned to repair the damage they would have done before he was confronted with them.”

Abah’s response triggered a barrage of reactions, making him to appear on the top trends of Twitter in Nigeria.

@ulxma said: “One day that fence that Joe Abah likes to sit on will collapse and he will land on his buttocks.”

@jiggyShakur said: “Yesterday’s heavy rain shattered my glass windows, flooded my room, destroyed my roof luckily it didn’t collapse my fence because Joe Abah built it.”

@SerahUndaunted said: “How to build a fence – 1. Sand 2. Block 3. Joe Abah. 4. More Joe Abah.  You don’t need cement, just use Joe Abah.”

@jinenez_cartel defended Joe Abah in a curious way: “If Joe Abah wants to sit on the fence, let him sit. If he decides to climb the roof and sit there, that’s his choice. What is not okay with you people forcing him to pick side all time or calling him names because he doesn’t share your opinion.”
