A Junior Secondary School 1 student, Miss Jessica Okonye, who was granted admission into the Admiralty University of Nigeria, Ibusa, Delta state, is expected to start as an ‘Auditor’, the tertiary institution says.
Jessica’s admission came after she was discovered to be exceptionally brilliant by a retired American university professor, John Alizor.
She was reported to have left an impression on the Professor who had gone to a shop where she worked as an intern.
The man after the encounter took interest in Jessica and started mentoring her, the relationship ultimately culminated in the ‘auditorship admission.’
Prior to her admission, she interacted with the leadership of the university, who were said to have found her academic abilities to be satisfactory.

The Vice Chancellor of the school, Professor Paul Omojo Omaji in a statement on the school’s Facebook page wrote:
“The Vice Chancellor admitted that Jessica is a brilliant child. He added that, pending when further checks on Jessica’s ability to cope with the rigours of being a university student without the completion of her post-primary education are concluded, ADUN can admit her into the school as an auditor.
“Jessica has come to the right place as a first choice centre for her academic pursuit as leadership is the central focus of our institution.”
He further explained that an ‘Auditor’ is a person admitted to participate in university lectures without necessarily aiming to earn a certificate.
If she successfully navigates this stage of her programme and gets full admission, she will be the first Nigerian to be admitted at the age of 12 into a Nigerian university.
