JAMB laud Edo State over ICT centre

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has lauded the Edo state government owned Information Communication Technology (ICT) centre for its newly introduced wholly Computer Based test which it said ranked the best in the state where there were no interruptions in form of power outages, server breakdown and other hitches experienced in some other centres across the country.

Senior JAMB official in the centre, Alhaji Suleman Ndaliman stated this when the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Julius Ihonvbere visited the centre on an on-the-spot assessment as the body concludes the test.

On his part, Ihonvebere commended the management of the Centre which he said has positioned the state for ICT driven governance thereby making it a model for other states.

He said with the conducive environment created, there was no reason why the students should fail.

The Managing Director of Edo ICT, Yemi keri, told journalists that the Centre was determined to continue to be centre for future examinations from JAMB and other government agencies and parastatals.

She said “One of the critical things about this administration is the strategy to transform in all sectors and the Comrade Governor is very passionate about education and in supporting that, we want to be able to contribute in supporting so that our young ones can have the opportunity to be able to write and start their higher life on a good environment. We decided to join those that will be a centre for the JAMB examinations and other examinations which other parastatals of government will do.

“We have a very enabling environment, we have the infrastructure, we have the equipment and we thought that it will be god for us as a state and as part of our contribution to our younger ones in the future to outsource this environment to enable them their examination this year.

One of the critical things is the cooperation of members of the team of the Agency in making sure that this comes to fruition and we are today regarded as one of the best if not the best cebtre in Edo state and feedback from JAMB has been very favourable and next year, we are
looking at expanding and giving room to more candidates that will be able to come and write their examinations”.
