JAKIN empowers 180 indigent Youth with Vocational Skills

A non-governmental Organization, JAKIN on Thursday,17/11/22 graduated over 180 out-of-school indigent Youth after three months of vocational skill acquisition in Lagos.

The Youths were trained in major vocational skills such as Barbing, Bag making, hairdressing /styling, Handcraft, Ankara craft, ICT and basic coding, and bead making among others.

The programme which was designed for out-of-school indigent youths was established in 2013 and has assisted many youths to acquire skills that would be of immense benefit to them through life.

In her address during the event, JAKIN President, Mrs Adebiyi Olubukola thanked sponsors that have been with her since the event started and urged them not to relent.

According to her, 940 indigent out-of-school youths have benefited from Fresh Foundation Project (FFP).

She said, since inception, the project beneficiaries have been caught across all major low-income or slum areas in Mainland, Somolu, Surulere, Mushin and Ajeromi LGAs of Lagos State.

She averred that among 940 beneficiaries, 106 have started their own businesses, 72 have got employment using their FFP certificate, 99 have gained admission into higher institutions and 448 now have access to bank savings accounts.

The students who won several prizes based on their individual performances were also taken on an excursion for coming tops in their various vocations.

Dignitaries from all sectors namely education, business and NGO platforms graced the occasion.

Graduands and dignitaries applauded Mrs Adebukola for this initiative as they pray for more sponsors to further sustain the project
