A lawyer and publisher of Premium Law and Politics News, Bridget Edokwe has felicitated with women worldwide and particularly the Nigerian women in this year’s celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) on Friday March 8, 2024.

In a release signed by her and published in her blog, the female lawyer salutes International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) for standing for women all over the world.

The release reads: “On the occasion of International Women’s Day, celebrated globally on March 8th, I Celebrate womanhood and extend my warmest congratulations and heartfelt appreciation to fellow Nigerian women for our strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions to society.

“This day serves as an important reminder of the achievements and challenges faced by women around the world, and the pressing need for gender equality and women empowerment.

“International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the immense progress made by women in various fields, including education, business, politics, arts, and governance. Nigerian women, in particular, have been at the forefront of transformative changes in our nation, breaking barriers and shattering stereotypes. Their determination, dedication, and indomitable spirit continue to inspire generations.

“On this day, I will also like to acknowledge and celebrate the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) for their unwavering commitment to defending and protecting the rights of women globally. FIDA has been at the forefront of advocating for gender equality, access to justice, and the elimination of all forms of discrimination and violence against women.

“FIDA’s relentless efforts in providing legal aid services, promoting gender-responsive legislation, raising awareness on women’s rights, and supporting women in the pursuit of justice serve as a beacon of hope for countless women facing challenging circumstances. Their work is instrumental in ensuring that women’s voices are heard, and their rights are respected and protected.

“I believe that the progress and success of Nigerian women would not be possible without the collective struggle and support of organizations like FIDA. Their dedication and commitment to fighting for women’s rights serve as a powerful reminder that as a society, we must continue to work together to address the gender disparities and challenges that persist.

“I call on all stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and individuals, to join hands in promoting gender equality, empowering women, and creating an inclusive society where all women can fulfill their potential and contribute meaningfully to national development.

“I urge all Nigerian women to continue to stand strong, support one another, and break through the glass ceilings that limit their advancement. Every day should be seen as an opportunity to advocate for gender equality, challenge gender norms, and contribute to creating a more inclusive society for all.

“On this International Women’s Day, I celebrates the achievements of Nigerian women and their immense potential. With continued dedication, cooperation, and support, we can work towards a more just and equitable society where women’s rights are upheld, and their voices are amplified.

“Together, let us celebrate women’s achievements, acknowledge their struggles, and strive towards a better future for all.”
