The Prime Minister of Ivory Coast, Amadou Gon Coulibaly, is dead.

He died on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at the age of 61.

The President, Alassane Ouattara, said on state TV that the country was mourning Coulibaly’s death.

Ouattara said that Coulibaly was unwell during a weekly cabinet meeting and was rushed to a hospital where he passed away.

He had returned to Ivory Coast after undergoing a heart exam in France earlier this year.

The prime minister was expected to lead the party in October’s presidential election.
