A member of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa (APC, Doguwa/Tudun Wada), on Tuesday said he is innocent of the allegations of murder levelled against him.

He told journalists in Kano that this is one of the most trying moments in his political history.

He said he has never killed a fly let alone kill 16 people as alleged by the opposition party.

He said, “My political rivals went all out to hold my jugular and insisted that I shouldn’t be elected to return to the House. They made sure that they painted me black through their malicious propaganda, hate speech among others and now Allah has ruled otherwise.”

He said, “I forgive all those who wronged me and will like to call on them to come forward and assist me in discharging my duties as the representative of the people.”

On his ambition to be Speaker, Doguwa said he would not be in a rush but if he was called upon to contest, he would not hesitate to do so.

“The issue is with my party. Once the APC zones the Speakership post to the North-West and my colleagues give me all the necessary support, I will do as they wish. However, if they take it to another zone, I will remain a loyal party man and forge ahead,” he said.
