As Nigerians continue to ask for the whereabouts and interrogate the state of health of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the former Lagos State governor, who is currently in London, United Kingdom, has said he is hale and hearty.

There has been anxiety in the country over Tinubu’s absence at a time political activities are peaking.

The APC Presidential Campaign Council which was billed to be inaugurated on September 28, was postponed indefinitely.

Tinubu was also conspicuously absent last week when 18 political parties vying for elective positions in next year’s general election signed an agreement for peaceful conduct before, during, and after the polls.

He was represented by his running mate, Alhaji Kashim Shettima.

The peace accord was put together by the National Peace Committee (NPC), co-led by former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar; Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’adu Abubakar III; Cardinal John Onayeikan; Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Bishop Matthew Kukah, and other eminent statesmen.

It is a non-governmental initiative conceptualised in 2014 with the objective of supporting free, fair and credible elections in Nigeria.

While Tinubu’s aides have not been able to give a coherent reason for his absence at such a critical moment, some Nigerians have concluded that he travelled to attend to his alleged failing health.

But to dispel the insinuation, the former Lagos State governor on Sunday took to his verified Twitter handle to assert that he was not dead.

“Many have said I have died; others claim I have withdrawn from the presidential campaign,” Tinubu tweeted.

“Well… Nope.

“This is the reality: I am strong, I am healthy and I am READY to serve Nigerians from Day One.”

And to prove his health status, the APC presidential candidate tweeted a video clip of him walking out on a bicycle.
