The claim that a man who had died 45 years ago could reincarnate like a large wing bird and take one of his disciples on a cruise has caused a social media stir.
A video was posted of an Islamic cleric claiming that he had the experience of being flown on the back of a Senegalese cleric, Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse, spelt Inyass by his disciples in Nigeria’s north, or fondly called Shehu, which means a respected Islamic leader.
Niasse, a well-respected and influential cleric with large following across West Africa, died in 1975, some 45 years ago.
In a sermon in Hausa, one of his unidentified Nigeria’s disciples was preaching to his dozens of congregation and said the respected cleric visited him at about 2:00 am on a certain day.
The sermon is translated here: “He said I should come and go with him. Then I came out. He then spread his wings. I could not comprehend the end of it. He said hop let’s go. Then I hoped. He then flew. The speed he took off with, I’ve never seen an aircraft with that kind of speed,” he said.
Social media commentators have disputed the claim of the cleric, including Muslims who reacted saying that they were angry that the cleric was throwing up the name of a well-respected Sheikh to ridicule.
