IPOB knocks Imo police commissioner over claims of group’s plan to attack Imo workers

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has debunked claims made by the Imo State Police Commissioner, Aboki Danjuma, that the group plans to attack public workers.
Danjuma said on Thursday that he increased security at the Federal and State secretariats because intelligence revealed the group’s plan.
However, IPOB dismissed this claim in a statement on Friday by its spokesman Emma Powerful, saying it would “never issue any threat to our people.”
IPOB accused the police commissioner of misinforming the public and urged the Igbo people to disregard the claim.

“We did not issue any threat and will never issue any threat to our people. IPOB can never impose any hardship on our people by issuing a one-month lockdown. IPOB are the people, and the people are IPOB; therefore, we cannot punish ourselves,” said the group.
IPOB challenged Danjuma to provide evidence of the alleged threat, instead accusing the Nigerian government’s agent in Finland of issuing the threat.
“The Nigerian government and her security Forces are the sponsors of insecurity in the East. They are working together with their agent in Finland to blackmail IPOB,” Powerful said.
The group urged all workers and businesspeople in the South East not to succumb to “threats from criminals working with the Nigerian Police.”
