Inter-Primary Schools Athletics Championship kicks-off in Gombe

The much awaited Gombe Inter-Primary Schools AthIetics Championship go off to glowing start inside the main bowl of Pantami Stadium with over 37 schools in attendance.
It started with girls 100m heats which stretched to Seven (7) the boys 100m heats was however delayed to a make way for the opening ceremony.
Opening ceremony was mind blowing and took a very interesting dimensions as pupils numbering 1,017 were involved in March pass while the Permanent Secretary, Gombe State Ministry of sports Mohammed Kolo Bajoga took the salute.
There was enough excitement and entertainment as pupils and their joyful parents joined in dancing to music from local musicians.
Expectedly, other dignitaries that also graced the opening ceremony include Zainab Adamu, Sports Commission director, Abubakar Baba Abdullahi, Local Education Scribe.etc.
Pantami Stadium was packed full such that the covered stand had no space.to contain spectators.
Sunday’s (Day 2) Competition would be more exciting as Competitions would start in ernest with full participation in the following events namely, 50meters Egg and sack races Boys. 200m boys and girls semi-finals, 50m bottle race for girls, and 400m bicycle race, Boys.
Five schools got shortlisted for best in March pass and result would be announced by the organising Committee.
The organizer of the Competition Hon. Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe expressed gratitude to parents for releasing their wards to participate in the 4-day AthIetics Competitions and he assured all presents of his willingness to be part of the Competition until Gombe State produces a world 100mh champion Tobi Amusan (12:12secs) and others.
AthIetics Competitions have commenced, the media training would follow on Tuesday July 11th.
