Inspector dies in Okada riders, police clash in Lagos

“Two suspects have been arrested while forty-one motorcycles were impounded”

An Inspector of Police has been confirmed dead following a clash between some police officers in Lagos and commercial motorcycle operators, also known as Okada around Isolo area of the state.

Benjamin Hundeyin, Spokeman of the Lagos State Police Command who did not disclose the identity of the deceased officer said a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) was injured in the clash.


According to him, the policemen were enforcing Lagos State Government ban on the operations of commercial motorcycles in parts of the state

Hundeyin tweeted: “While enforcing the existing ban on the use of motorcycles in parts of Lagos State, Police Officers of Isolo Division came under attack from motorcycle riders at Cele bus-stop, resulting in the death of one Police Inspector & serious injury to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO).

“Two suspects have been arrested while forty-one motorcycles were impounded. The Lagos State Police Command will not be deterred from carrying out its mandate of enforcing duly established laws.”
