INEC responds to Omoni Oboli’s agitation, mum on attacks on voters and journalists

Omoni Oboli’s alert earlier today that voting did not take place at the usual polling units in Victoria Garden City (VGC) in Lagos was picked up by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and it has rescheduled the vote for tomorrow, Sunday March 19.
The ballot will be held between 8.30am and 2.30pm, said Lagos Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Segun Agbaje, per reporting by Tribune.
Agbaje is, however, silent on attacks and voter suppression in other parts of the state by hoodlums hired by the All Progressives Congress (APC), including Surulere, Okota, and Ikate Elegushi, where Arise TV crew was among those brutalised.
Journalists and cameramen with Channels Television were also attacked in another part of Lagos today while reporting the governorship and state Assembly elections.

Omoni Oboli cries out, alert INEC we can’t vote at VGC PU, Lagos
Nollywood actress Oboli had cried out this morning that election officials failed to show up at her usual polling unit at VGC and instead instructed voters to go to a polling unit on the Expressway.
She urged Nigerians to tag the INEC to quickly rectify the anomaly so she and others in the area are not disenfranchised.
Oboli, a mother of four, in company of other personalities like Fela Durotoye and his wife, disclosed in a video via her Instagram page this morning that many people waiting at the usual polling unit for INEC officials were let down.
“So it’s a 8:00 AM, and we’re set up; as you can see, we are fully set up here. Everything is completely organized all the polling units are here but Inec has said they are not coming into VGC; they’re going to set up on the express,” she said.
“I don’t understand why thousands of people are in here to vote and then you want us to go to the express.
Strange occurrence
“This has never happened before. They’re saying they’re not coming in, so please start tagging INEC and tell them we’re all set up, we’re here, we’re waiting, and they set this up, pulling it this way we posted the last time,” Oboli added, per Tribune.
“I’ve always we’ve always voted here for years, you know, every election cycle. Yeah, now they said they’re going to the express setup. I wish you all come out to express how thousands of people vote at the express, so that makes sense. Please, please, please now, please wait. Nobody has any drama at this time; please, please, let’s do it.”
