INEC result viewing portal has been described as the ultimate game changer because it publishes election results immediately after the close of ballot

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has added more features to  its Result Viewing Portal (IReV) to ensure optimum performance and accountability.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), INEC disclosed this in a statement by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, in Abuja on Friday.

According to the commission, the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) has been migrated from www.inecelectionresults.com to www.inecelectionresults.ng.

The commission said all previously registered user credentials from the old URL remained valid on the new URL.

It added that notification emails containing the new URL would be sent to all registered users.

INEC also stated that the notification to the effect had been uploaded to the commission’s social media platforms.

INEC’s Bimodal Voters Accreditaion System (BVAS), is the technology INEC deployed to upload in real time, election results.

INEC has consistently said that the deployment of BVAS was the way to go in checking election rigging which takes many forms in Nigeria – ballot box snatching, stuffing them with ballot papers, writing election results, causing chaos during voting or altogether disrupting collation of results.  And that is not even the worst

The BVAS has the dual function of authenticating voters and uploading election results of polling units into INEC’s Result Viewing (IRV) portal.
