INEC declares APC’s Binani winner of Adamawa gov election
The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Senator Aisha Dahiru, popularly known as Binani, as the winner of the Adamawa Governorship election.
Barrister Hudu Yunusa, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for the state made the declaration following the supplementary election held Saturday.
Binani is Nigeria’s first elected female governor.
Results from 10 out of 20 local governments had been announced by the the Resident Electoral Commission (REC) before sudden postponement till 11am.
Governor Ahmad Fintiri of the PDP was leading with the results so far announced.
But before the scheduled time the REC, Hudu Yunus Ari, announced Binani as the winner.
