Aliyu Ahmed Sokoto of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the governorship election in Sokoto State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The APC flagbearer polled a total 453,661 votes to defeat his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Saidu, who scored 404,632.
