The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rose from its expanded caucus meeting yesterday in Owerri, accusing Imo State government of impoverishing the citizenry.
The party’s state Chairman, Chief Charles Ezekwem, while addressing party loyalists, also lamented that the high degree of poverty in the land was breeding anger and frustration among the people.
“It is not in doubt that Imo people are fed up with the present failed government. They have been frustrated. They are angry.
“Our people are bitter and hungry”, Ezekwem said.
The state PDP boss also accused the state government of “impoverished the citizens beyond description”, stressing, “nobody needs to be told that the people are yearning for rescue.
“We must have to change this negative and ‘evil change’ we are all experiencing in our dear state. The government has so impoverished the citizens beyond description and we don’t need a soothsayer to tell us that they are eagerly and earnestly waiting for PDP to come to their rescue.”
He said that if PDP loyalists demonstrate discipline, commitment, fairness and carry every member along, “we will definitely come out victorious at the end of the day”.
Ezekwem also pleaded with his party faithful to make credibility, fairness and success their watch word “because our ultimate goal is to unseat the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2019”.
