The Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Imo State chapter, Vitalis Okeafor (Barrister), has assured that no member of the party would influence the work of his committee. Okeafor and the committee won their case in the court after removing the Nnamdi Anyaehi-led executive of the party in the state. Okafor brifed newsmen at the party Secretariat Owerri on Friday, March 18, 2016.
According to him, all the suspended members of the party would be recalled while aggrieved ones would be given the opportunity to express their views. The 16-member Caretaker Committee, he said, would use the constitution of the party to ensure that peace reigned in the party, adding that there was no faction within the rank and file of members of the party.
Okeafor, who hails from Uli Anambra State, disclosed that the national headquarters of the party in Abuja had given the members of his committee guidelines on what to do to move PDP forward. The committee’s responsibility, he explained, was to restore the Imo State chapter of the PDP by treating every member of the party on equal footing. He called for co-operation of newsmen to assist the committee achieving its mission.
