The death of the Imo monarch comes days after an Imo PDP ward chairman was murdered.

A traditional ruler from Ezinihitte Mbaise Council Area of Imo State, Eze Joe-Benz Ochulor, Olu 1 of Otulu Amumara, has been killed after being kidnapped.
The lifeless body of the Imo monarch was found on Sunday by the road side at Mbutu community in Aboh Mbaise Council. He was taken captive from his palace on Saturday.
Confirming the report, spokesman of the Imo State Police Command, Henry Okoye, said: “The information is true. It is an unfortunate circumstance but the state Commissioner of Police has declared the suspects wanted. We are on the trail of the suspects and we are doing everything possible to close in on the suspects and bring them to book.
“The command is open to anybody with useful information that will lead to the swift arrest of the suspects. We are assuring the public that this development is not above us. The CP is on top of the situation.”
An eyewitness was quoted by Vanguard as saying: “His (the monarch’s) body was found far away from the community. It is shocking to all of us. We are in pain as I talk to you now. He was kidnapped by 8pm Saturday night. His body was found at the road side.”

It was gathered from an intelligence officer that the new Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has deployed a special squad to apprehend the killers.
The source said: “The Commissioner of Police has set up a high powered investigative team to fish out the assailants and make them face the wrath of the law. The CP has also deployed special tactical team to go after the killers and apprehend them.”
The death of the Imo monarch comes days after Imo PDP ward chairman for Ife/Akpodim/Chokoneze Ward, Ezinihitte Mbaise Council Area, Smith Chiedoziem Anyanwu, was murdered in the presence of his wife.
The gunmen had arrived and demanded to see him. Upon confirming that he was the one they were looking for, they shot him and confirmed that he was dead before they left the scene.
