As  the rank of those who seek to govern Imo State on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) continues to swell, a former commissioner in the state and former banker, Mr. Nick Opara-Ndudu, on Thursday, July 26, threw his hat in the ring.

Meanwhile, Captain  Emmanuel  Iheanacho, former Minister of Interior and the APGA flag-bearer in the 2015 governorship election in the state has endorsed Opra-Ndudu’s aspiration, describing the ex-banker as a capable hand who  has  the capacity to drive the state to  the path of glory.

Captain Iheanacho, a member of the APGA Board of Trustees (BOT),  who spoke at  Opara-Ndudu’s formal declaration to contest the 2019 governorship  election, lauded the aspirant  for  putting together what he described as “workable  solutions for the developmental  challenges  facing the state.”

He said the solutions packaged by Opara-Ndudu are strong enough to address the intractable issues currently  assailing  the state.

In a well attended  ceremony in Owerri, Imo State capital,  Opara-ndudu unveiled  his blueprint, which he said  would guide him in his effort  to arrest the ruin being witnessed  in every sector of the state’s  economy.

He took the visibly  excited  audience of party  stalwarts and other stakeholders through  his professional  career in banking where he rose to the very  top and his trajectory  in the public  sector where he also  served Imo people  in four different  capacities,  the high point being the attainment  of the highest  internally  generated revenue  that the state witnessed  while the portfolio  was under  his watch.

The blueprint themed: Imo- Creating Pathways to Prosperity and Growth,  covered  education,  agriculture,  industrialization,  health,  land reform,  tourism, housing among others.

He assured  the audience  that he was poised to heal Imo, a task he considers  challenging  but doable.

He also promised  to build on the legacies  of Chief Sam Mbakwe, late governor of old Imo  State, by creating  massive employment  through  the linkage between  agriculture  and industry.

In his goodwill  message, an elated Captain  Iheanacho commended Opara-Ndudu for the depth of his programmes  and presentation ,  stressing  that  Imo needs a governor with a good combination  of private and public sector  experience  to clean up the mess the current  administration had created  in the state.

He said he was  proud of Opara-Ndudu  and wished him well in his mission to  secure  the ticket to fly the party’s  flag in the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state.

He advised  APGA faithful  present  to share the lessons  of the presentation  with others,  but to also listen to other aspirants and choose wisely at the party’s primaries.
