Immigration to partner INEC on elections

The Ogun Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) on Wednesday said it would partner Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other law enforcement agencies to provide security during the general elections.

 
Comptroller of the command, Mrs Victoria Isang, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abeokuta.

 
Isang said that the command had beefed up surveillance in all its formations to ensure maximum check on attempts by immigrants to enter the state illegally.

 
She explained that the command would also ensure that foreigners did not pick voter cards in any way and vote during the elections.

 
She said that she had visited the formations to ascertain the readiness of officers to carry out the task.

 
“In view of the fast approaching election, we want to ensure that officers are alive to their respective duties of ensuring that there is no influx of illegal immigrants in the country,” she said.

 
Isang listed the immigration formations which she visited in the state as Ifoyintedo Control Post, Ajegunle Main Border, Idiroko Control Post, Ajanlekoko Control Post and AJilete Motorised Patrol Base.

 
She expressed satisfaction with the professionalism and dedication of officers in the command, saying, “I am impressed with what I met on ground’’.
