Enugu State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Frank Nweke Jr, has debunked what he called “misleading and wicked rumours of his withdrawal from the Enugu gubernatorial race.”

In a three-paragraph statement made available to TheNiche in the early hours of Saturday, Nweke Jr described the fake news as “the work of desperate cowards who have lost favour with the people.”

He restated that he had never considered stepping down and will never do so.

A source in Enugu State described the fake news as “a massive and aggressive misinformation machinery unleashed against the APGA candidate by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

“They are afraid of their shadows. But this is the last kick of a dying horse. Nothing can save the PDP in Enugu State. The party, which died on February 25, will be buried today,” the source who pleaded anonymity said.

He also advised them to protect their votes.
