It was celebration galore at the closing ceremony of the 2nd Annual Inter-primary School Sports Festival concluded over the weekend at Dr. David Burgess stadium, Olashore International School (OIS), Iloko-Ijesa, Osun State just as the Local Authority Primary school, Iloko-Ijesa emerged overall winner of the event.The 2014 edition of the sports festival closing ceremony witnessed the presence of Osun State Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Social Needs, Hon. Stephen Kola Bolagun; NASCOM chairman, Yemi Idowu who also was the special guests of honour of the event while the Chairman of the OIS Governing Board, Prince Abimbola Olashore led the top management staff to the stadium.
At the end of the event, Iloko-Ijesa based government primary school showed the doggedness in them in topping the medals table of the two days energy sagging sports festival by winning five gold and two silver totaling seven medals to lead other nine private schools that took part in the event.The Ibadan-based Subuola Memorial nursery and primary school placed an distant second with two gold, four silver and one bronze medal, also, Rosebud nursery and primary school, Ado Ekiti settled for third position having won a gold, two silver and four bronze medals.While delivering his closing remark, Mr. Derek Smith, the OISPrincipal and CEO commended the performances of all the participating pupils athletes and their teachers for exemplary displayed of good character and talents during the two days event, while congratulated the winner for making the community proud in their quest to attain greater heights in the near future.Meanwhile, the highlights of the day was the presentation of medals to all individuals and teams winners while the top three schools went home with trophies and other valuable items for their efforts.
