Former governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has expressed sorrow over the news of the death of Nimi Ohuabunwa, wife of Senator Mao Ohuabunwa.

Mrs Ohuabunwa died in a hospital in Abuja on Saturday, July 22 after a protracted illness.

Ikpeazu, in a statement on Tuesday by his spomesman Onyebuchi Ememanka, described her death as shocking and devastating.

According to the former governor, “I knew her personally. She was an extremely pleasant woman who exuded lots of warmth, friendship and camaraderie. She was a powerful pillar of strength and support to my dear brother and friend, Distinguished Senator Mao, whose pain at the time can only be imagined.”

Ikpeazu urged Senator Ohuabunwa to dredge up sufficient courage and strength at this most difficult moment of his life, from the realisation that death is a destination that awaits every mortal being.

“The memories of their union,  the children and the powerful legacies they built together over the years should now serve as soothing reminders of the beautiful life they had together as well as provide substantial motivation to trudge on,” he added.

The former governor, on behalf of his family, sent his “deepest sympathies” to the Senator and prayed the Almighty God to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest.
