Ihedioha woos UNDP, seeks speedy development of Imo

Imo State Governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has appealed to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to assist his administration towards achieving its policies and programmes in youth development, job and wealth creation, environment, renewal energy, e-governance, tourism and agribusiness in the state.

  The governor made the appeal during a strategic business meeting with UNDP officials in New York, United States.

  Ihedioha, who is part of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) delegation to the 74th United Nations General Assembly, also congratulated Ms. Ahunna Eziakonwa-Onochie, the leader of the UNDP team, who is also assistant secretary general of the United Nations, for attaining such height in the UN hierarchy.

  In her remarks, the leader of the UNDP team, Eziakonwa-Onochie, who is also the regional director, UNDP Regional Bureau for Africa, congratulated Governor Ihedioha on his victory in the governorship election in the state, while highlighting the natural resources that abound in the state.

   She, however, assured the governor that the UNDP was ready to support his administration to harness the natural resources in the state.

  Besides, Eziakonwa-Onochie praised the governor on his leadership qualities and his efforts at redefining governance, assuring to support the state in capacity building, business mapping and setting SDG framework for the state.

  Ihedioha was accompanied to the meeting by Mr.Reginald Ihebuzor, the commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr.Chima Nwana, Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Anselm Okorie, Senior Special Assistant on SDGs and Mr. Ndubuisi Anyanwu, DG, Imo State Investment Promotion Agency (ISIPA).

  The UNDP team include Joseph Oji, Regional Adviser, Regional Bureau for Africa and Jane O Yeboah.
