A former governor of Imo State whose tenure was scuttled by Supreme Court justices in January 2020, Emeka Ihedioha, has met Governor of Abia State Alex Otti barely a week after quitting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ihedioha, who served as governor of Imo State from May 29, 2019 to January 14, 2020, resigned from the PDP on ground that the major opposition party was failing in its responsibility of providing credible opposition against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Other members of the PDP, including the Chairman of Imo State chapter of the PDP, Chief Charles Ugwu, a deputy governor of the state, Engr Gerald Irona; former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Owerri and one-time Education Commissioner, Prof Jude Njoku, also quit the party with dozens of others.
Ihedioha, who met the only Labour Party governor, Alex Otti, on Sunday in the gobernor’s hometown of Isialangwa in Abia, said the meeting was fruitful.
He said via his X handle on Monday: “Delighted to have met with my esteemed brother and friend, Governor @alexottiofr, at his residence in Isialangwa. We had a convivial discussion, even as I commend his giant strides in Abia State.”
The meeting of the duo has heightened speculation that the ex-Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives may soon be joining the Labour Party.
