- Says Imo will be rebuilt spiritually and economically
In display of his gratitude to God for the liberation and rebuilding of the Imo State, Governor Emeka Ihedioha, on Wednesday inaugurated the planning committee for the ‘Imo Day of Thanksgiving.’
Speaking at the inauguration while receiving in audience the Primate-elect of the Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, at Government House, Owerri, Ihedioha assured that the State will be rebuilt economically, socially and spiritually.
He commended the Primate-elect, who is also the Archbishop of Jos Province and Bishop of Gombe, for visiting the state, describing him as a worthy ambassador.
According to the governor, “Light has taken His rightful place in the state, as the days of darkness are over.”
He tasked the committee to organise successful interdenominational thanksgiving service, to thank God for His mercies on the state and the people.
Governor Ihedioha urged the committee to work as a team, devoid of rancour and division.
In his remarks, the Primate-elect commended Ihedioha for dedicating the state to God and urged him not to despair, assuring that God will see him though if he maintains his faith on Him.
He noted that Ihedioha has displayed impressive leadership skills and qualities, urging members of the State Executive Council to continue to show undiluted loyalty and cooperation to the Governor.
Speaking on behalf of the members, chairman of the committee, Special Adviser, political affairs to the governor, Hon.Jones Onyereri, assured that the committee will live up to expectation and bring the people of the state irrespective of denominations to thank God for delivering them from bondage of the past administration.
The committee comprises of the clergy drawn from various denominations across the state, appointees of the government and others.
