Ihedioha felicitates Most Rev. Simeon Nwobi on confirmation as bishop of Ahiara Catholic Diocese

Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, on Saturday extended congratulations to Most Rev. Simeon Nwobi on his appointment as the substantive bishop of Ahiara Catholic Diocese.

Pope Francis appointed Nwobi, hitherto titular bishop of Rusgunie and auxiliary to the apostolic administrator sede vacante of Ahiara as the substantive bishop of Ahiara Diocese on May 3, 2024.

Nwobi was appointed titular bishop of Rusgunie and auxiliary bishop of the apostolic administrator sede vacante of Ahiara on October 14, 2023 and received episcopal consecration on December 19, 2023.

Congratulating the clergyman, Ihedioha said in a message posted on social media: “It is with joy in our hearts and deep sense of appreciation to God that I felicitate with you and the Mbaise Catholic community on your well-deserved confirmation as a Bishop. This is a testimony to your avowed bearing as an anointed servant of the Most High.

“My wife and I are particularly delighted that this symbolic and historic epoch coincides with our wedding anniversary. The joy that comes from your elevation reflects the unity for our people, irrespective of faith, social or political affiliation.

“May the Almighty Lord grant you wisdom, knowledge and understanding to discharge your ecclesiastical functions effectively and to the glory of God and salvation of mankind. Once more, Congratulations!”
