Leicester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho has said he believes Super Eagles interim head coach, Finidi George is the right man to lead the team.

Finidi was confirmed as the interim manager of the Nigerian team earlier in the week.

The 53-year-old, who is also the head of Nigeria Premier Football League champions, Enyimba led the Super Eagles to a 2-1 victory against perennial rivals Ghana on Friday.

Goals in each half from Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers and Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman were enough to secure victory against the 10-man Black Stars, who had defender Jerome Opoku sent off early in the second period.

He is also expected  to take charge of Nigeria’s friendly against Mali on Tuesday.

However, with several other notable coaches jostling for the position of Super Eagles head coach, Iheanacho has backed Finidi for the job.

Speaking after the game against Ghana at the Grand Stade de Marrakech on Friday, he said:

“The coach (Finidi) has done a great job, it’s a short time for him to work with us. It’s just only him at the moment.

“Hopefully, he will get more chances with the team.”
