Igboho

A community leader in the South West, Sunday Ighoho, has split Nigerians in the social media with his quit order he issued to the Fulani to leave the forests in Oyo state.

Ighoho’s  order has already stoke tension between the Yoruba and the Fulani, causing  each of the groups either renouncing the man or endorsing his rhetoric in the social media.

A tweet from @AfamDeluxe said: “In Oyo state, one man, Sunday Igboho, is marking & tackling the Fulani herdsmen, but I am yet to see Yoruba intellectuals bash him & remind of how he is beatng drums of war. I am yet to hear anyone remind him Nigerians deserve to live anywhere. I will keep pointing it out.”

@gimbakakanda queried: “We justify targeted harassment of an ethnic group until we are the victims of such hatred.”

@TahaAdam argued: “The ethnic profiling on the Fulani race is a dangerous thing, if unchecked it can lead to an all out retaliation which can get out of control! That ethnic bigot and jingoist in Oyo should be arrested immediately! He should face the full wrath of the law.”

But those urging Ighoho  on argue that he was doing the right thing.

A tweet from @fisayosoyombo argued: “When a govt sleeps while its people are abducted & slaughtered, the emergence of people like Sunday Igboho is inevitable. All the noise from the Oyo Gov against Igboho’s boldfaced declaration is just to save face. Wake up to your responsibility or watch a commoner take charge!”

@realFFK also said: “It would be dangerous, reckless & counter productive for Buhari to ARREST or KILL Sunday Igboho. When the Northern youths demanded that Igbos should leave the north no-one was arrested. Why should Sunday be arrested or killed for asking KILLER Fulani herdsmen to leave South West?”
