Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, has admitted he has not seen a defender as good as Lisandro Martinez in the Manchester United shirt for a while.
The Argentine defender joined the Red Devils from Dutch side, Ajax, over the summer in a big-money move that led to criticism from a section of the fans due to his height.
Martinez since then has proven his doubters wrong and produced another excellent performance in Manchester United’s narrow 1-0 win over West Ham United on Sunday.
Manchester United had to show grit while defending in the match after Marcus Rashford’s 100th club goal had put the home side in front against the Hammers.

Ian Wright hailed the former Ajax defender who partnered the returning Harry Maguire in the heart of United’s defence following Raphael Varane’s injury, saying he did a yeoman’s job.
“He’s got defensive quality that I haven’t seen at Manchester United for a while,” Wright said according to Premier League productions.
“He’s exactly what they’ve needed. Someone that doesn’t mess about, there’s no thrills with him, it’s just bang, good challenges.
“He’s been a really, really good signing. I didn’t think he was going to be as good as he’s been.”
