A Frontline aspirant for the House of Assembly election in Akure South Constituency 1 under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Aare Abiodun Oluwarotimi, yesterday met one of the most powerful pressure groups in Akure, promising to ensure credible representation if elected in the forthcoming election.

Addressing the well-attended meeting, Aare Abiodun noted that the lack of development in Akure and its environs is a result of poor representation by the current lawmakers representing the areas at the State House of Assembly.

According to him, the current lawmakers are just stooges to the state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who has decided never to let any good thing come to Akure just because the people of the town identified with their own son, Barrister Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, during the October 2020 governorship election in the state.

In his speech, Aare Abiodun Oluwarotimi promised not to be a rubber stamp lawmaker, adding that he would not support the state governor to use his selfish interest to override the interest of the good people of Akure South Constituency 1 once he is elected as a lawmaker.

He said he will not be an enemy of the state government as a lawmaker but will always ensure that every right belonging to Akure is released by the government as and when due.

He promised that he would initiate several Bills that will be for the betterment of the people of Akure rather than being “I support the motion lawmaker” during his stay at the House of Assembly.

He promised that he would not be a lawmaker that will be taking bribes from the state government at the expense of the people of Akure South Constituency 1, stressing that he would make sure that the government releases all that is due to his people as and when due

He also promised to use his closeness to some ranking federal lawmakers both in the Senate and the House of Representatives especially the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Power, Dr Gabriel Suswam, to attract federal presence to Akure.

On Constituency allowances, Aare Abiodun Oluwarotimi promised that he would not singlehandedly utilize such funds for any projects but will rather bring it to regular meetings of the elders in Akure South Constituency One where they will be shared for the developments of all the six Council Wards in the area.

He said he would allow the elders in the Constituency to set up committees that will be using the Constituency allowances to do physical projects in all the Six Council Wards.

In their separate speeches, the leader of the group, Hon. Prince Tony Ala, Secretary of the Akure PDP Elders Council, Hon. Dele Faboro, leader of PDP in Ward Six, Alhaji Ganiyu Ogbera and a leader of the party in Ward Four, Hon. Omotayo Bada, lauded the aspirant for deeming it fit to identify with the pressure group.

They noted that the group is open to all aspirants but stated that any aspirant that the group will back in the forthcoming primaries would be unanimously adopted based on his records and loyalty to the group.

They said aspirants must be able to display that they have enough funds to execute the election so that the party won’t be stranded on the day of general elections where candidates usually run away for lack of funds.

According to Prince Tony Ala, any aspirant who is not ready to work with the general interest of the group which is Barrister Eyitayo Jegede SAN can never have their support as the group was created to protect the interest of the former governorship candidate of PDP.

He added that the group will never accept any aspirant that isn’t genuinely having the interest of Barrister Eyitayo Jegede SAN in his heart. “If you pretend to be with us and you still go behind us to do otherwise, we will know and we won’t have anything to do with you” he said.

He said: “If you are an aspirant with lots of physical funds for your election but you are not genuinely having the interest of this group in your heart, we will never see you as our own”

Prince Tony Ala also assured the sitting that better days are ahead as Akure man will become the governor of the state very soon. He specifically mentioned Barrister Eyitayo Jegede as the glory of Akure that members of the group are not ready to joke with.

Both Prince Tony Ala and Ahlaji Ogbera offered prayer for the aspirant in Christian and Islamic ways.
