Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for Arochukwu State House Constituency, Abia North, Hon Kalu Kalu Ulu, has promised effective and better representation if voted into office as a law maker.
He said he would ensure that good laws that would address the plight of the people were made, adding that he would stop at nothing to ensure that his zone gets what is due to them.
“I will stop at nothing to ensure that my constituency gets effective, efficient, positive and better representation if given the opportunity to serve” Ulu noted in a statement he personally signed.
Ulu, a former local government commissioner, said he decided to make himself available after serious consultations with all relevant stakeholders and by extension, the people.
Said Ulu, “I am persuaded to come out and present myself for service because of my love to serve my people, to add in raising value of life. I have made all relevant consultations with my people and they have promised to give me massive support, perhaps, due to my antecedents when I had an appointment offer to serve as a local government commissioner”.
Ulu said there was much to do in the house to bring intervention to his people.
Ulu said, “I feel that there is a gap and that gap is in the area of quality representation. The primary role of the legislator is law making, so we have not had representatives that have been able to identify the real problems of the constituency so as to come up with relevant laws to intervene in those areas.
“If you look at the constituency, there is poverty, lack of amenities, poor state of the roads etc all these are the things that if you have a good representation the person should be able to make the necessary interventions on the areas the people are suffering from”.
The politician said he was the people’ s choice and candidate to beat as far as integrity, transparency, accountability, experience, competence, performance record, reliability and credible representation were the priority focus.
According to him, “for me integrity is consistency of action, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes. To have integrity is to have strength of character, it is to be steadfast, resolute and having moral backbone-walking the talk and doing what you promised.
“Integrity means to be authentic, straightforward, and displaying what’s on the inside outside. It is to be open, honest and direct in your dealings with others; to be clear about what’s right and wrong and not compromising your values”.
Ulu noted further that integrity “ Is to have a conviction and the courage of that conviction; to have a behavior that matches your values; to be principled, honorable, fair, accountable and responsible. It is moral soundness and freedom from corrupting influence or motive.
“ It is to consistently stand up for what is right, doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking; and definitely doing the right thing when people are looking. It is the glue that binds a person’s other virtues.I will be committed to integrity virtue”.
