Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has said that he regretted supporting the change that brought the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressive Congress (APC) government in power in 2015.
He said that the ruling party since inception three years ago has thrived on blame games of its woes and maladministration.
Kwankwaso also accused the APC government of not only setting Nigeria years backward through policy somersault but increased poverty, killings, loss of jobs and general non-performance.
He spoke to supporters and delegates ahead of the party’s primaries at the Niger State PDP secretariat in Minna.
He lamented: “Following and supporting President Buhari when we went all out to campaign and ensured he won the 2015 election have been my greatest mistake and that of others”.
Kwankwaso said that it was unfortunate that the much talked about change he supported only brought about in-explainable misery, hunger, killings and unemployment for Nigerians.
“We sought for change in 2015 and along the line, I realised that the change is not bringing anything good on the table but instead Nigerians witnessed and still witnessing more killings, hunger, under-development, poverty and unemployment.
“I will not support or remain in that type of change. That is why I am back to the PDP to change the change that has brought untold hardship on Nigerians,” he said.
Kwankwaso, who insisted that he was the best candidate for the job among other contestants for the 2019 Presidency under the PDP, said that he would not ascend to consensus but that whoever emerges after the primaries would get maximum support.

“Count me out of any arrangements outside the primaries for all contestants to test their popularity and acceptability among the delegates.”
