Executive Director of Obafemi Awolowo Foundation, Olatokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu has debunked reports that she said there was a plot to get rid of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and make his running mate, Kashim Shettima, president if they get elected next year.

The reports falsely quoted the daughter of the late Obafemi Awolowo as appealing to Yorubas to stop being sentimental and tribalist about the three major candidates contesting for the office of the presidency.

“They are plotting against Tinubu; Yorubas should wake up. They are aware of Tinubu’s medical condition.

“All they are planning is, immediately after handing over and swearing-in, they are going to get rid of Tinubu and Sheetima will be your next president if you are not careful,” the false report quoted Awolowo-Dosunmu as saying.

However, in a statement on Wednesday, she asked Nigerians to ignore the reports.

Awolowo-Dosunmu, who is also the chairman, African Newspapers of Nigeria Plc., said that she had not spoken with any journalist in recent times on any matter.

“I am not in partisan politics and I have not been in partisan politics for decades. I have neither endorsed nor condemned any candidate or party. I have no intention to do so,” Awolowo-Dosunmu said.

“I refuse to be dragged into a matter I know nothing about. I advise whoever is behind this wicked lie to make better use of their time for the progress and development of our country, Nigeria.”

Awolowo-Dosunmu, however, urged Nigerians and the entire world to assist the country, in every way they could to navigate through these trying times.
