Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, yesterday disclosed that he never had any dealing with the Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA) under the leadership of Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd). Omisore faulted the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) for freezing his bank account.
In a statement he personally issued yesterday in reaction to a report that the anti-graft commission had frozen his bank account for allegedly benefitting from $2.1 billion armsgate, he said he had never had any dealing with the ONSA.
“Last time, it was N700 million. Today, it is N1.3 billion. Nigerians should be expecting higher multiplier in future,” he said. The former deputy governor insisted that “there is no such money in my account. Let EFCC bring all the finding to the court, instead of media hype. EFCC will not stop at any height to blackmail opposition.”
“I did not collect money from the ONSA. I insist. EFCC is known for spreading rumours. Freezing my account shall amount to the tyranny and illegality acts. I will not be surprised if EFCC can be dodging court summons, declaring me wanted and evading services.
“I shall compel them to unfreeze such account, because I am not on trial or found guilty. Rather than pursuing legal means to ensure justice, the anti-graft commission has instead resorted to media trial and falsehood, which would not prosper under any guise,” Omisore said.
He reiterated that he “did not collect not take money from the ONSA. Why this political trial – prosecution, intimidation and humiliation; neither did he have any dealings with the ONSA at any time.”
