I hold no grudges against Funke Akindele, says Toyin Abraham

Popular Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, has dispelled the rumour making the rounds that she is at loggerheads with Funke Akindele over who is superior between the two.

According to a report in Punch newspaper which it monitored from a radio programme, Abraham stated that contrary to the belief of some people, that there is no love lost between them, she sees Funke Akindele as her senior colleague and respects her.

Iyabo Ojo , another colleague of the duo, had alleged that Funke paid a movie review organisation to discredit Toyin’s latest work “The Ghost and The Tout Too”

But Toyin says Funke is one of few of her colleagues she looks up to in the industry, and has high respect and regard for her.

“She is my senior colleague and she is someone I respect a lot; so, I do not know what people are talking about, trust me. She is one of the few people I look up to. Sometimes, people do not understand that we are colleagues and not family. So, you cannot be talking to all your colleagues. We talk, we follow each other.

“If I see her, I will kneel down and say, ‘Aunty Funke se wa okay,’ (meaning Aunty Funke are you okay?). A lot of people do not understand that we are working in the same space; we do not have to be close friends. When we see ourselves we greet each other. Forget social media, trust me.” Abraham said.

Fans of the two actresses will be mightily relieved over this new development, as they have been urging the two talented filmmakers to sheathe-the-sword on various social media platforms.
