I-G orders restoration of salaries to Sgt. Ajuma Ibrahim

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, has directed that the salaries of Sgt. Ajuma Ibrahim, with Force Number 09527, be restored to her immediately.

This is contained in a statement issued by police spokesman, Mr Emmanuel Ojukwu, an Acting Commissioner of Police, in Abuja on Wednesday.

Mr. Solomon Arase

Arase also ordered that all arrears accruing to the officer since 2013 be paid immediately.

The directive followed the intervention of a Radio/TV Talk Show in Abuja: “Brekete Family’’, anchored by Mr Ahmed Isa, a.k.a. Ordinary Ahmed.

According to the statement, the officer, who was attached to the Police command in Lagos, had her salaries stopped in June, 2013 due to ill health.

The statement said the plight of Ajuma Ibrahim was brought to Arase’s attention on Wednesday morning through a phone call from the host of the radio/TV talk show.

“The I-G invited the talk show crew to his office.

“After due briefing from the Budget Office of the Police, it was discovered that the subject’s inability to fill the required emolument forms and processing same in compliance with extant regulations, led to the salary predicament.

“The IGP immediately ordered the resolution of all the issues and restoration of her salaries.

“He also directed the transfer of Ajuma Ibrahim from Lagos to Abuja and directed the police Medical Officer to ensure she gets the required medical attention’’, it said.

It added that Arase assured the public that the police was responsive and responsible and that reported neglect in personnel welfare and injustice to the public would be promptly addressed. (NAN)
